Service Overview
Industrial Demolition In Sydney

Factories, warehouses, silos and full plant decommissioning.

Industrial demolition is large-scale, high-stakes work — factories, warehouses, plant rooms, silos, tanks, gantries and steel structures. H&R has the machinery, licensing and experience to decommission and demolish industrial facilities across Sydney and NSW safely and efficiently.

These projects often involve hazardous materials, redundant plant and complex structures. We plan each job in detail — isolation and decommissioning, hazardous-material clearance, mechanical and high-reach demolition, and full site clearance — and manage the risk from start to finish.

Decommissioning and hazard management

Before a single structure comes down, plant and services must be safely isolated and decommissioned. We manage the shut-down and disconnection of services, drain and clean tanks and vessels, and identify and remove hazardous materials — including asbestos, which we’re licensed to handle in-house.

This front-end planning is what keeps an industrial demolition safe and on budget. We document it thoroughly and work to AS 2601 throughout.

The right plant for the scale

Industrial structures need serious machinery. We deploy high-reach and mechanical demolition plant to bring down large steel and concrete structures in a controlled way, process and separate the resulting material — steel for recycling, concrete for crushing — and cart it away.

The result is a cleared, level site, with the bulk of the material diverted from landfill and the paperwork to prove EPA-compliant disposal.

Industrial Demolition Services Sydney

Industrial demolition covers large, often complex sites: factories, warehouses, workshops, cold stores, silos, tanks and plant rooms, many with decades of equipment and services still in place. We handle industrial demolition across Sydney’s industrial precincts, including the west and south-west, for owners, developers and builders preparing sites for redevelopment.

  • Steel-framed warehouses and factory buildings, including roof sheeting and cladding
  • Concrete and tilt-up panel buildings, with the panels broken down or removed for recycling
  • Silos, tanks, gantries and mezzanines
  • Plant, machinery and process equipment decommissioning
  • Hardstand, slabs and footings, with crushing and recycling of concrete

Decommissioning and Site Clearance

Most industrial demolitions start with decommissioning. Services are isolated, equipment and stock are removed, and hazardous materials are identified. Older industrial buildings commonly have asbestos cement roofing, wall cladding and pipe insulation, which must be removed by a licensed removalist. We manage this in-house through our asbestos removal team, with friable work cleared by a licensed assessor. The structure is then brought down, materials are separated for recycling and the site is cleared to slab or ground level as specified.

Steel and Concrete Recycling

Industrial sites produce large volumes of steel and concrete, and both can usually be recycled. Structural steel, sheeting and plant are sent to metal recyclers, and the scrap value can help offset part of the demolition cost on steel-heavy sites. Concrete slabs, panels and footings are broken down and sent for crushing, so they can be reused as recycled aggregate. Read more in our guide to where demolition waste goes.

Industrial Demolition and Bulk Earthworks

Once an industrial site is cleared, it often needs bulk earthworks before redevelopment: slab removal, cut and fill, and new pads or levels for the next building. Because we do both demolition and excavation and haulage, the site can go from standing buildings to a level, prepared pad under one contract. We work across industrial areas in Blacktown, Liverpool, Penrith and Parramatta.

Good To Know

Industrial Demolition — FAQs

Yes. Isolation, decommissioning, draining and removal of redundant plant, tanks and machinery is part of our industrial scope, carried out before structural demolition begins.
We separate and recycle wherever possible — structural steel is recovered for recycling and concrete can be crushed for re-use, cutting landfill and disposal costs.
Hazardous materials are identified in the planning stage and removed by licensed operators — including in-house asbestos removal with air monitoring and clearance — before demolition proceeds.
Often, yes. On steel-framed warehouses and sites with plant and machinery, the value of recycled steel can offset part of the demolition cost. The amount depends on the tonnage and current scrap prices, and we account for it in the quote where it applies.
Yes. Asbestos cement roofing and cladding are common on older industrial buildings. Our licensed team removes them safely before the main demolition, with clearance documentation supplied.
Yes. We can isolate and demolish individual buildings or sections while the rest of the site keeps running, with exclusion zones, traffic management and staging agreed with the site operator.
